He's here! He's here!
Baby Oliver arrived Friday, May 31st, stats as such a Flint boy would be: 9lbs, 6oz...and cheeks so chunky and round its all you can do to keep your lips off them. he smells so good, with a good head of hair so soft, everything just so soft. he is the cutest little man i have ever seen and we are so happy he is part of our family!!
We drove to Austin Friday, as soon as dad got off of work to meet the little man. We missed his birth ((which was around noon)), but were there only a few hours later to smother him with kisses and love ((and to overwhelm and cramp the new parents in their tiny postpartum room)). we came bearing gifts of sausage kolaches, cream cheese kolaches, cinnamon rolls and tiny baby socks from Weikels bakery in La Grange. stella, you jumped right up on mama momo's bed and acted so sweet with the new baby. you gave him kisses, sang him twinkle twinkle with nona, and were even interested in holding him. jane, on the other hand, you were more than a little weary of me holding another baby.
After an hour of total baby love-fest, we left the exhausted parents to revel in their new baby bliss and headed over to gatti-town for a pizza and arcade extravaganza. talk about over stimulation. pizza! kids!! lights! flashing lights! noise! loud noises! ghetto teenagers! games! games! games! both you girls were over the moon about this. but i have to say the award for the "most excited participant" goes to kyle cox....and its a toss up whether it was the pizza buffet or the arcade mania that made him happiest. he banged his gavel with all his might on "whak-a-mole" and won a hideous stuffed dinosaur, then moved right along to the horse races where he beat a group of 14 year olds three times in a row! ((go kyle!)) this conquest won you (stella) a big ol ugly flowery stuffed teddy bear, that you insisted on. so dad wins it, hands it over to you, you hug it for one second and then turn to me and ask if i will hold it the rest of the time ((figures)). after an hour ((an hour too long if you ask me)) we headed home to nona's house for some R&R.
the next morning we woke up and were out of the house by 9am! all of us! let me say it again, 9am! this is almost unheard of. ((family high five)) we headed down to south congress cafe for a glutinous breakfast of eggs benedict, omelets and CARROT CAKE FRENCH TOAST ((!!!)) the mother of all breakfasts. then we sauntered around soco, feeling full and happy. we wandered around tesoros, looking at mexican imports forever, man i love that place. stella you can make just about anything characters in a little imagined story. i try to color with you and within minutes the crayons have taken on personalities of their own and you're wandering off having a full fledge conversation with them....so needlesstosay, this store was your haven. little figurines everywhere for your imagination to go bonkers. we tried on clothes at a few boutiques along the way, stells you are my little shopping buddy. i seriously love it so much. then ended our excursion at Big Top Candy Shoppe, which about stole everyone's heart. we left with a 2lb bag of salt water taffy and a little bag of gummy brains.
we stopped by the hospital to visit Sweet Oliver, Momo and Jordan again, bestowing upon them P. Terry's cheeseburgers ((yes, more food)) and a few new outfits for the little man. you girls absolutely love running around hospital hallways. after another chaotic visit ((i am not kidding when i say you like those hallways, its turns you both into screaming crack heads)) we left the happy family in hopes for a nap at nona's.
that night, dad and i got to escape to dinner for Kelli's birthday!! weeeeeeeeeeee! goooooood good times. justine's for dinner and whistlers for a nightcap. kyle then drove us all home listening to Snoop Dogg, with Kelli and me seated in the carseats. which we believe would make for a great romcom scene. 2 drunk ladies in the back of the SUV, riding in the car seats. i'm not a screen writer so i can't set that up properly, but you get the drift, endless possibilities here.
sunday was a bit of a hungover blurr, but i'm pretty sure the morning was spent playing at the park and i'm absolutely sure the afternoon was with torchy's tacos and another visit to the baby. this time at the hospital, you ladies were in such rare form running around the hallways that you were actually kicked out. made me laugh. i didnt have the energy to chase you around, so i happily held sweet oliver for as long as i could before we had to head home. babies are so sweet. momo and jordan are going to be the best parents, you can tell already. ((stella - side note, at one point this afternoon after all of us had repeatedly asked you to slow down/settle down/sit still, you stopped mid-wiggle and offered momo a pretend cookie and that made her laugh so hard. you are such a little con artiste!))
we are home now, you girls easily went down early and now its time for dad and my sofa date with game of throne, mad men and strawberry ice cream. ((self high five))
xoxo
