Welcome!

a day picnicing at the menil

time sure is flying, i cannot believe it is may.  but you wouldn't know by the incredible weather we've been having lately.  crisp cool nights, perfectly warm, bright days.  highs in the 70s.  so unlike texas for the weather to be so livable...enjoyable?  next week will probably be a different story so we've been outside soaking it up as much as we can.  either the front or back door are open at all times when we're home.  although, it does make me a nervous wreck because, Jane Girl, you throw yourself feet first down those steps without a care in the world.  i've had minor (read: major) heart attacks a few times because of this.

so on one of these glorious days, we decided to picnic at the menil with a few friends.  we spent almost 4 hours just sitting at the park.  chasing after you kiddos, watching you run around, climbing sculptures, and fig trees, swinging, chasing squirrels, watching the "three birds."  i am so happy to have the time now to enjoy these days.

since its been awhile, here is whats going on with you ladies lately....

Jane, so much is happening with you!  There are FIVE, count them, 5, teeth coming in right now.  you are a droooooooling mess.  but still so smiley, so sweet!  and walking, almost running everywhere now (how?).  i love how you babies walk with your arms up almost to your armpits as you wobble wobble everywhere.  like a drunk t-rex.

"Bye Bye!" is a constant phrase for you and when that little hand reaches up and opens and closes in a bye-bye motion my heart can barely stand it.  you say da-da a lot as well, and mama when you're upset (of course).  you also love making little indian noises, you say "ahhhh" and i pat your little mouth and you just laugh and laugh afterwards.  you also do this funny thing where you bang your mouth repeatedly on the couch or ottoman while screaming...i'm not sure if you're attempting this same noise but its hilarious.  hil. ar.ious.  it probably feels good on those swollen gummies of yours.  your dad and you have a pretty cool game where you throw your head back while he holds your hands and you tumble backwards in a teeny tiny flip.  when he picks you back up you immediately throw your head back for another round.

i love that little space under your chin, that neck fat, filled with the snacks of the day, drool, dirt...its so soft and smells just like a baby should smell.

and your little smiles.  theyre always and all the time.  unless you're hungry of course.  but thats a quick fix.

on to you Stella-bells.  just growing and growing.  you are such a strong, smart little thing.  you can talk me in a circle and i have no idea how because aren't you only 2?  you are headstrong in the princess thing.  the cinderella costume has been worn out a time or two (or more).  everything is pretend for you right now.  its so cute to watch.  its magic in motion...how things come to life, these stories and characters you create.  it is so so sweet.  you are obsessed with animals, any and all.  highest on the list right now are bunnies and squirrels.  you want to hold a squirrel so badly, you watch them climb the tree in the front yard from the window and ask me over and over again if you can hold it, and i just dont think its going to happen....even if i allowed it, i dont think those little buggers could sit still long enough.   Our neighbor's cat, Cyrus, is still one of your favorites because he will sit still long enough to let you hold him, and ladybugs...a few have landed on us lately and you will cup it in your wee hand and proudly and carefully walk around with it until it flies away.

you love to watch Peep and The Big Wide World.  its such a cute little show and so difficult for me to say no when you ask.  and you love to snuggle.  "mommy, come snuggle wit me." to curl up in bed with a blankie and paci and lay around like walruses.  its funny how much energy you have but can calm down so suddenly when i ask if you want to snuggle.

we are not without our difference though.  and i would be lying to say some days are a strugggggle.  you are a mini-me, that is for sure.  we will have many, many more fights to come i suspect.  i'm preparing myself and hope that when those days come i will react better, with more patience and sensitivity.  with more deep breaths and kind words.  you are so smart and strong, i can talk to you as a friend, i forget sometimes that you are a baby.

i love you girlies so so so so sooooooooo much.
